I have not much to add really. I respect your position, as I said, your intentions are pure. Indeed, I don’t want people to be hurt in a debate, simply because it is counterproductive. The strategy adopted by the climate change scientists, whether their facts are accurate or not, has not worked. You cannot deny that. You can say it’s because of people that “disregard facts” or people like me, but in the end, I think it’s for failing to recognize that their overall communication strategy didn’t speak to people as if they were humans, but as if they were cold blooded robots which will “surely take the most rational, scientifically proven course of action”. Maybe one day, we will all be cyborgs and will take decisions based on statistical significance, but for the moment, convincing people to take one course of action and not another has to still tackle people’s fears and perceptions on top of throwing facts around. That is the reality that you can observe.
